At the southern end of the Rocky Mountains (The San Juan's) in the Rio Grande National Forest is one of the best-kept secrets, Wolf Creek Ski Area. Located on the Continental Divide, 465 inches of excellent powder snow blankets the1,000 acres of high elevation ski area. 500 acre of extreme area is serviced by a snowcat. Summit elevation is 11,775 and the vertical drop of 1,425 feet provides thrills for everyone.

Food service is available at the ski area, although lodging and full service restaurants and bars are located a short distance away in South Fork and Pagosa Springs. A variety of price ranges and accommodations will fit any budget.

To reach Wolf Creek Pass Ski Area, take I-25 south from Denver to Walsenburg and west on US 160. It is normally about a four-hour drive from Denver.
